Endochrism by Agbaka Oryiman invites the viewer to turn inward, past the boundaries of creed and ritual, toward the quiet spark that makes us human. Reimagining Christ not as a distant, unreachable figure but as the flame of consecration within every soul, the work draws from the roots of its title—endo (“within”) and chrism (“sacred anointing”). Rendered with delicate, almost reverent detail, the piece explores the tension between flesh and spirit, showing that divinity is not imposed from the heavens but rises from the depths of our own being. Light radiates through shadow as if to suggest that even in our most fractured states, there is a sacred ember waiting to be recognized. Endochrism is less a portrait than a mirror—an invitation to witness the sanctity that dwells in us all.
